I was on a marketing forum yesterday and a fellow marketer/designer posted a question. He wanted to know how to get customers. I was shocked by the question and kinda went nuts on the guy. If you are in the business of helping others build their businesses, you should be able to figure it out. It was like a pilot asking how to fly a plane.
I outlined a simple strategy and signed off. Later it hit me just how getting customers in not second nature to everyone, and with an affiliate marketing mode you can make it.
The idea behind it is that you promote other people’s products, often through an affiliate network, earning a commission if people actually end up buying thanks to your marketing.
I love meeting with customers and helping them with their businesses. They may call me for a new website or logo, but the goal is usually about getting customers. I’ve talked clients out of projects that didn’t help them with their bigger goals.
A huge side benefit to working with an outsider like me is that it gets you thinking about your business in a fresh way. Once you start that ball rolling, great things will happen. I just assumed everyone is flexing those muscles.
