How much does it cost to have a sign built and installed? Could be hundreds. Could be thousands. Don’t spend a dime having anything printed or constructed or installed that isn’t designed by a professional.
Oh sure, you could have the sign company “design” it. Maybe you found the one or two sign companies that employs a great graphic designer…but probably not. Sign makers specialize in the printing and construction of signage, but not the design. They are great at what they do. As a designer, I communicate with them and ask for their expertise and the best options for sign creation.
Bad type, bad kerning, confusing messages, are all the result of unprofessional design. Graphic designers are experts in the design. We can tell a client your clever idea is great, but here is a better idea.
Saving money by doing the design yourself or letting the sign company do it is a mistake. Just don’t. Hire a graphic designer.
